Hello!
Gosh
that is great. Can you believe I’ll be home in 9 months?? That's so awesome! It
scares me how fast it going. If I learned one thing from conference, it’s that
I regret all the time I wasted in middle and high school and even in college
and my mission. If I could go back with the knowledge I have now, I would make
sure never to waste a second of my time. The reality that this life is the only
life we have barely hit me this weekend. Conference was the best. I was
particularly impressed by Elder Holland (who is my favorite), especially when
he ripped on all the RMs who don't do anything with their lives.
Last Tuesday we had a csp,
we climbed a mountain and harvested bamboo. Did you know bamboo has water
inside of it? I heard it sloshing around as I carried it down the mountain.
Afterwards, the 1st counselor in our branch climbed a coconut tree like a
monkey and cut open coconuts like a Samoan. Then we sat on the ground drinking
coconut water and eating coconut slices like a bunch of cavemen.
Wednesday was a pretty
regular day of work, we taught this one less active lady.
Thursday we went to Bugnan. We ate lunch at Nanay Grospe's house, she was
kind of mean to us. She said "mabuti na lang si X ang kasama ninyo, maalat
ang ulam" which basically means she's glad X came with us because the ulam
didn't taste good. Then I philosophized with this tatay who isn’t a member
but his family is. He told me he doesn’t want to listen because he still smokes
and drinks and has coffee every morning. So I asked him if healthy people go to
the hospital and he said no, so asked him why he thinks Elder Bustillo and I visit
them twice a week. Then he said 'hayaan mo na ako, elder.' napakatigas ng ulo
niya.
Friday Elder Montierth and
I worked together, it was awesome. He and I get along really well and we worked
hard the entire day. Then his companion and Elder Bustillo came to our
apartment to sleep for the night. When I got home that night I had to do
laundry, I was up until a little after 12:00.
Saturday we woke up at 4:00
to catch a bus before 5:00 so we could go to Bongabon to watch the priesthood
session that would be replayed at 8:00AM. Imagine if you had to catch a bus in
Swan Valley to watch conference at our old church in Lincoln. I tried my
hardest not to sleep but man it was hard. Then we had an hour break before the
morning session and afterwards an hour break before the afternoon session. So
we were done at 4:00 and stayed in Bongabon so we wouldn't be late on Sunday
morning. I worked with Elder Tumala, and we had Burger Machine for dinner. I slept
on a foam mattress on the floor and Elder Tumala said "tinatakbohan iyan ng mga daga". (Thats where the rats run at
night)
Sunday
we watched conference, and our branch rented a jeepney so all our members could
attend. After conference we went home and worked a little bit then had sopas at
our branch presidents house. Last night was the best night of sleep I’ve ever
had. Also I put
two pictures of me and Montierth from our work last Friday. The place we are is
right next to a lady we teach. Ok
well my time is up I'll talk to you next week.
Love you!
